Originally from Shropshire, UK, Alison studied at Shrewsbury Art School and completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Textile Design from Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, UK. She taught knitwear at Huddersfield Polytechnic before going on to work for a London design studio.

Alison has also worked freelance designing knitwear for UK magazines. Her design work lead to the field of graphic design and desk top publishing in which she worked for several years.

After migrating to Australia in 1998, she settled in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales.

After taking a class or two in botanical art she became hooked and her journey to a full time passion began. Quickly this developed with a natural progression to painting and drawing the birds which frequent her local surrounds and beyond.

Alison works mainly in watercolour but recently has introduced coloured pencil into her work.

She is a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia, editor of the societies newsletter and features work at their annual exhibition at the Sydney Royal Botanical Gardens.
